What's new
Tactical phase formations
- •Unit formations are now saved from one battle to the next.
- •The formation is remembered separately for each of the player's heroes.
- •Only for standard battles against neutrals, and against the AI. For object battles or battles against other players, armies return to their default position.
- •The formation is saved at the moment the tactical phase ends.
- •If a unit cannot return to its saved position (e.g. an obstacle on the battlefield), it is placed at its default position.
- •Placement takes the order of the hero's army slots into account: if you swap two stacks between slots, their saved positions follow the swap.
Quality of life & presentation
- •Unit movement in tactical mode: improved display and added sound.
- •Added a confirmation window when clicking « Quit » in the connection loss window (no more accidental exits).
Balance
NerfOnly one balance change in this patch, presented by the developers as a temporary fix ahead of a major balance patch to come.
Avatar (Summon Avatar)
Damage per Spell Power — Basic12→12
Damage per Spell Power — Advanced16▼12
Damage per Spell Power — Expert20▼12
- •The summoned Avatar has its damage per point of Spell Power brought down to 12 at all three levels. The Basic level was already at 12, so only the Advanced and Expert levels actually decrease. Temporary fix ahead of the major balance patch to come.
Bug fixes
Fixed
- •Numerous interface errors after loading an already-started Hotseat game, or when swapping position with an AI in the lobby of an already-launched game.
- •The lobby timer could display « 00 » in rare cases.
- •Part of the progression of an old campaign profile could carry over to a new profile created in the same slot.
- •Tournament templates: moving a unit between slots (from the hero to the town, etc.) at the last second of the timer before a battle could duplicate or make creatures disappear.
- •Tournament templates: a player attacking a neutral stack at the last second of the timer would then lose interaction with that stack after the battle.
- •Rare freeze of the AI during its turn, under certain circumstances.
- •A potentially serious bug related to checking adjacent zones for interrupting simultaneous turns during an adventure map spell.
- •The notification for an upcoming tournament battle now adapts to the text size.
- •Incorrect value displayed in the tooltip of the « Eternal Service » sub-skill of the Necromancy skill.
- •After researching the « Elite Liches » law, the resurrection bonus granted did not appear in the Liches' ability tooltips.
- •The « Ambassador's Word » set effect did not trigger.
- •Connection loss when one player upgraded creatures in the « Pit of Glory » while another moved a hero between the garrison and the guest slot (or vice versa).
- •The detailed tooltip of a scroll stayed displayed on the old tile where it used to be.
- •Auto-combat did not work when attacking objects guarded by a garrison in campaign mode.
Found in the data
Compiled by comparing the game files v0.80.19 → v0.80.24. These points are present in game but absent (or inaccurate) in the official notes.
Summon Avatar — internal values beyond the 3 levels
- •Beyond the 3 playable levels (Basic / Advanced / Expert), the game files store 2 additional scaling values (24 and 28), also brought down to 12 by the patch. The labels go up to « Grandmaster » in the files, but the skill only has 3 playable levels: these values are leftover data, with no effect in game.
Stack count calculation (fullStacks)
- •Internal engine rework: a unit's number of full stacks is now calculated as « base + temporary » (accounting for summoned stacks). No impact on the displayed stats.
Jebus Outcast template
- •The unguarded starting zone of the content pool changes from variant 1 to variant 3. A map generation adjustment, undocumented.
