Upcoming PvE Content: The Mysterious Island
od Steam

Unfrozen has announced that The Mysterious Island, one of the most popular PvE maps for Heroes of Might and Magic III, is coming to Olden Era. The map was inspired by Jules Verne's novel and created by the community mapmaker Papyjama, who is joining the studio as its new Level Designer. The announcement comes as the team continues work on its roadmap features such as Teamplay and the Advanced Random Map Generator, and it directly answers repeated community calls for more single-player and cooperative PvE content.
According to the studio, Papyjama's map-sculpting skills will allow Olden Era to add new maps and scenarios at a regular pace. The Mysterious Island is described as his personal project and the first of many planned PvE additions, as well as the first giant-sized hand-crafted map coming to the game. Unfrozen says the map is in the late stages of development and that they hope to ship it in one of the next big content patches, with more maps from Papyjama to follow in the future.
To celebrate the collaboration, the studio published an interview with Papyjama retracing the history of how The Mysterious Island came to be and offering a first taste of what the map will bring to Olden Era, accompanied by an in-game screenshot of the giant map and a YouTube video (id jvoNdFAPteE). Papyjama shared that imagining adventures for others had long been a dream of his, and Unfrozen reaffirmed that it will keep expanding the game's PvE offering and reading player feedback closely.
